Everyone has their goals, whether that be to just get the damn thing running, bag a 15 second pass or run that first 10. Each task may seem trivial to some or epic to others, but it is truly the owners that know just how insurmountable that task may be.
Running an 8 second pass however, everyone knows that it doesn't matter which way you slice it, its a tough gig.

Further complicate the task by using 90's Subaru Legacy then the question begs " Do you want sprinkles with your moon on a stick? "
However complicated the task, Michael White took it on. The chief of staff at the well renowned OMA Performance has form, plenty of form. Get to spend some time chatting with Michael and you will soon realise that building the Legacy was just another chapter in an extremely well versed book. The man has a wealth of knowledge and experience in building and tuning pretty much anything. So coaxing the cumbersome Subaru to run "8's", when it spends much of its time climbing the Northern Irish hills, or at the sprints at Kirkistown, meant there really only had to be one outcome.
That "8".
Rewind back to 2016, Michael and the OMA team were invited to run at VW Action, along with Stevie Ross in his 200+ mph street driven Ford Granada.
Boy did they impress, none moreso than the Legacy which went home with a 9.22 in the bag and a crowd left mesmerised by a car that was equipped for more duties than solely tearing up 1320ft of prepped tarmac.
Roll on to 2017, the team knew there was an "8" in the car. Unbeknownst to everyone, the car wasn't listed in the event schedule. A clerical error meant Michael was left stranded at the signing in office at Santa Pod thinking that was it!! They'd came all this way for nothing!!!

A brief chat with Luke Stevenson in the tower straightened out the situation. With a chance to cool down, reflect and eventually make light of the clerical error, it was game on. The team readied the car, whilst other teams were emptying dry ice and assortments of power adders into their cars, Michael just strapped in and went to the lanes.

The first few passes were tricky, a brace of low 9's, an aborted launch left us thinking the car had a driveline failure.
After an anxious wait, the black Subaru Legacy entered the lanes again before the lunch break, only to have to sit it out as the track closed for the morning session minutes before their call.
Whilst we all clambered to the Pod cafe for sustenance Michael and the team stayed in the lanes.

Just as I was about to discard my paper cup in the nearest bin I heard the unmistakeable roar of a turbocharged flat four and a Samsonas transmission banging its way through the gears.
I ran to get a glimpse of the Gantry, and there it was, the 8 everyone had been waiting for. 8.983 @ 152.20mph! That single pass cemented Michael and the OMA Legacy into an elite club. The "8 second club". As far as we are aware, that club only has one member, no other car and driver from Ireland has ran into the eight's. Although rumour has it that in the deepest depths of Co. Kerry. A certain "Barnstormer" team won't be long in joining Michael for company.
The worlds quickest and fastest Subaru Legacy, and without question. The quickest car in Ireland.
