As it turns out, neither were we.

How did we get here? By chance, a bit of luck and a lot of determination.

Towards the end of the 2017 season, an opportunity arose to have talks with Straightliners, without question the best drag race timing company in the UK.

After 4 months of discussion and an approval for a date from St Angelos airfield Enniskillen, the deal was done. Straightliners were to head back to Ireland after a hiatus of some 6 years.

Much has happened in those 6 years. Within drag racing, a one make event proved to have the staying powe. The loyal Aircooled fans, coupled with the regular hardcore racers, ensured that the event has grown in stature over the past 5 years. So much so that it has become the "must do" event on the calendar for everyone.

Like moving house, it costs money, LOTS. To move Drag Day to pastures new is not a decision that was taken lightly. The significant increase in costs to hire the airport along with bringing in a timing team from outside of Ireland mean that "Aircooled Drag Day" has to evolve.

Evolve it will, although the "Aircooled" element will always remain to be a driving force for the event. When it comes to the house move, we are going to need some help.

Thats where we open the doors to the car community, "Drag Day" is now your party too. We aim to give you just the same enthusiasm, encouragement and welcome as we have done to the air cooled community these past 5 years. Joining forces is key to making Drag Day a success. Much like Straightliners and St Angelos Airfield have joined forces with Drag Day to bring you the best possible facilities. We know that bringing car communities together is paramount if we are to succeed in bringing everyone the highest quality race event possible.

Welcome along for the ride.

The Drag Day team.
